Dhumavati Yantra and 3 Powerful Dhumavati Mantras

A large section of the sacred Hindu texts talks about Mahavidhyas10 forms or aspects of Adi Parashakti. According to Devi Bhagavata Mahapurana, she is the one who created the universe, the one preserving it, and the one who will destroy it. Her avatars are worshipped to acquire all sorts of power and knowledge.

The deities include Kali, Tara, Shodashi, Bhuvaneshwari, Bhairavi, Chinnamasta, Dhumavati, Bagalamukhi, Matangi, and Kamala. The ideal way to devote to these deities is to indulge oneself in Sadhana or Meditation through the medium of Yantra and Mantras.

Dhumavati is the seventh form of Adi Prashakti. She is known to represent death, hunger, poverty, disease, and all other sorts of negativeness and inauspiciousness. A strange legend from Pranatoshini Tantra explains her origin. Dhumavati, previously known as Devi Sati, was the first wife of Lord Shiva.

Once, she asked Shiva to get her something to eat. As they were in the Himalayas, he wasn’t able to fulfill her wish. Out of extreme hunger, she engulfed Shiva itself, and by doing so, she widowed herself.

Shiva’s consciousness then talked to her and convinced her into throwing him up. She agreed, and as soon as she let Shiva out, he cursed her. He stripped off her good looks, making her aged and ugly. She was imprecated to be dressed as a widow in old clothes. And that’s how she got transformed into Dhumavati from Sati.

Despite what she represents, she is worshipped by a large number of Hindus around the world. Devotees worship her asking for strength to fight against the same negativities she is associated with, specific diseases and poverty.

Dhumavati Yantra

Yantras are diagrams printed or drawn on paper/cloth and kept in close proximity while meditating. Dhumavati Yantra is composed of a triangle inside a Star of David, bordered by a circle, positioned on top of a lotus flower. The structure itself is enclosed inside a square structure. The colors used in the Yantra are Yellow, Red, and Green.

Dhumavati Yantra should be installed and worshipped for overcoming sadness, sorrow, depression, tragedy, diseases, and poverty and to eliminate the evil impact of Ketu from one’s horoscope. It is also worshipped for all-around success and spiritual upliftment, which gives quick results.

Dhumavati Mantras

Breaking Down Dhumavati Mantras

Every deity has a seed word associated with it, for example, the seed word for Lord Shiva is Om. Similarly, it’s Dhum for Dhumavati. The seed word is mainly used to compose mantras for chanting and worshipping the deity.

There could be mantras composed using the seed word of only one deity, giving the devotees the benefits of worshipping the particular deity. For example,

॥Dhum Dhumavati Svaha॥

This mantra is a mantra focused on Dhumavati.

Or, there could be modified mantras with seed words of more than one deity, giving the worshippers benefits of all. For example,

॥Om Dhum Dhum Dhumavati Devyai Svaha॥

It is a modified mantra focusing on both Shiva and Dhumavati. Modified Mantras are by definition more powerful than the deity-specific ones, offering the devotees benefits of all the deities it focuses on.

There is also the role of syllables in Mantra. The mantra with more syllables is more difficult to chant than the mantra with few syllables, especially in the case of Dhumavati Mantras, as they need to be chanted 1008 or more times, as per the motive. The former ones are considered more powerful and effective than the latter ones.

The following are Dhumavati-focused mantras with the same benefits, but as mentioned above, the one with 7 syllables is the least powerful while the one with 15 is the most powerful. Devotees can choose one of the syllables to go with, as per their level of concentration and devotion.
